For the best in contemporary design, it's hard to beat The Future Perfect. I never know whether to call it a shop or gallery, oh, let's call it a shop--less intimidating. Founded by David Alhadeff in 2003, the original Brooklyn shop was relocated to 55 Great Jones Street in lower Manhattan a few years later. In 2013 a second shop was opened at 3085 Sacramento Street in the beautiful Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. For those living in Los Angeles, a third location was recently opened in a Beverly Hills home (The Trousdale Estates)--this location requires an appointment.
David Alhadeff shows the work of a large number of American and international designers and companies; it's like walking into a mini-design museum. There are some well-known names here, and some emerging talent. The welcomed trend of high-end design meets hands-on craft is well represented. It isn't inexpensive, but then again, each piece is a work of art.
